The occurrence took place in lower Manhattan on Vandam Street and Greenwich Street where the 23-year-old bystander emerged from a crowd of about 1,000 onlookers with his camera phone in his hand. As the young spectator made his way towards the cherry red car in order to capture close-up footage on his camera phone, he stumbled and fell in harm’s way, where he was subsequently run over.
After the authorities and paramedics arrived on the scene, Brito was immediately taken to NYC Health and Hospital/Bellevue, where he is in critical condition with a fractured skull, brain injury, and severe trauma to the body.
The suspect who ran over Brito immediately fled the scene and he is still at large. He is being described as a dark-skinned male, while the vehicle in question is said to be a red two-door Infiniti sedan with a yellow decal on the driver’s side of the words “Tyler Spec.”
