Utah Woman Accused of Fatal Hit-and-Run, Blames Crash on Uncontrollable ‘Defecating’

A Utah woman is in police custody after a being apprehended for a fatal hit-and-run that sees her facing several felony charges.

According to authorities, Julie Ann Budge, 47, veered over into the bike lane in Washington City, UT on Saturday when she killed two brothers, Adam and Matthew Bullard, who were visiting town to compete in a cycling race.

“A witness at the scene of the accident stated that it appeared that Julie did not have the intention of stopping after hitting the two cyclists,” the affidavit states. “The witness stated he followed Julie’s vehicle until she pulled over and stopped several hundred yards away from the accident.”

Budge blamed the crash on “various medical issues,” including, irritable bowel syndrome which caused her to “defecate on herself without warning.” When she “began to uncontrollably defecate on herself,” Budge says that forced her to swerve into the bike lane.

She now faces two felony counts of automobile homicide, two felony counts of DUI with serious bodily injury, two felony counts of failure to remain at the scene of an accident, and one misdemeanor count of reckless driving.
