According to reports, United States military forces conducted a drone strike on Friday night in Afghanistan, targeting ISIS in a retaliatory attack for the recent bombing near the Kabul Airport.
In a statement to NBC News, Capt. Bill Urban, a spokesman for U.S. Central Command, said “U.S. military forces conducted an over-the-horizon counterterrorism operation today against an ISIS-K planner,” adding, “The unmanned airstrike occurred in the Nangarhar Province of Afghanistan. Initial indications are that we killed the target. We know of no civilian casualties.”
The drone strike comes on the heels of President Biden vowing to “hunt down” those responsible for the attack that killed 60 Afghanis and 13 U.S. service members.
