The high school basketball player who sucker-punched an opposing player during postgame handshakes was arrested charged with a felony Wednesday.
Video footage showed the 17-year-old senior punch an opposing player in the stomach before striking him in the face and knocking him out after Tuesday night’s game in Iowa. The victim suffered a concussion and had to get four stitches in his mouth as a result of the attack.
The 17-year-old has been charged with felony willful injury and has a court hearing on Dec. 13. He faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted on the charge.
