Southside, real name Joshua Luellen, was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed firearm and knowingly driving with a suspended license. The arresting officers said a “heavily tinted windshield” on his Mercedes SUV prompted the initial stop.
Authorities say Luellen had a handgun between his shoes and another on the floorboard behind the passenger seat. Both guns were reportedly fully loaded. When Luellen said he had a concealed weapons permit, it was discovered that they in fact he had a permit but it had since been suspended for undisclosed reasons.
“I advised Joshua that he was in violation of his CCW permit by having the firearms within reach and not secured in the glove box or encased in a box inside the vehicle,” the arresting officer said in the arrest affidavit.
He was arrested, processed, and released on a $5,000 bond.
