Scottish 4 year-olds can change gender at school without parents’ consent

Children as young as four can change their gender at school – and don’t require their parents’ consent, says the Scottish government.

The government has advised primary school staff that students – as young as four and five – who want to make that gender-switch “must be supported and listened to” because “recognition and development of gender identity can occur at a young age,” wrote Shirley-Anne Somerville, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills, in the report.
