Prosecutors Pushing for 4 Years in Prison for El Chapo’s Wife

Earlier this year, the wife of El Chapo—Emma Aispuro, pled guilty to helping her husband run the Sinaloa cartel. Aispuro pleaded guilty to charges that included knowingly and willfully conspiring to distribute heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine for several years. Now, it has been revealed that prosecutors are seeking to give El Chapo’s wife four years in prison for her crimes.

El Chapo’s wife reportedly admitted to acting as a courier between her husband and members of the Sinaloa cartel while he was locked up in the Altiplano prison in Mexico in 2014. Prosecutors in the case asked a judge to give the wife of El Chapo four years in prison after she pleaded guilty to drug distribution and money laundering charges related to her husband. Along with that, prosecutors asked that Aispuro forfeit $1.5 million related to her criminal activities.

As of now, Aispuro is facing sentencing for her crimes on November 30.
