NC Man Sentenced to 30 Months For Attempting to Set Police Car on Fire

A North Carolina man was recently sentenced to 30 months in federal prison after he attempted to set a police car on fire in Raleigh during a protest that took place in relation to the death of George Floyd.

In June 2020, 21-year-old Jabari Davis was charged with one count of attempting to damage or destroy by fire a vehicle owned by an institution receiving federal financial assistance. The young man pleaded guilty to the charges in October 2020.

Now, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina has revealed Davis was given 30 months in prison.

It was noted the vehicle was set on fire by a bottle with a sock in it, and police reportedly found fingerprints on the bottle that belonged to the 21-year-old.
