A month after the disappearance of Murphy, a man named Randy Taylor was arrested, charged, and convicted for first-degree murder and abduction and is now serving two life sentences. A press release was issued by the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, who said federal, local, and state authorities “pursued multiple leads and conducted numerous searches” around the time of the young girl’s disappearance but could not find her.
However, it was noted that remains of the young girl’s body was found on private property in Lovingston, and the remains were identified to have belonged to Murphy, according to the medical examiner’s office. The sheriff’s office noted they delayed announcing the news until this week so that Murphy’s family had time to make arrangements for Alexis.
