Reports noted the NYPD responded to a 911 call around 7:13 am to Kryst’s midtown apartment. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene, and police believed she jumped from higher up in the building to her death.
Kryst was a 30-year-old lawyer who was also the former Miss North Carolina. She ended up winning the 2019 Miss USA pageant and also went on to work as a reporter for ExtraTV. Kryst left a note saying she was leaving all of her belongings to her mother, who was a former pageant competitor as well. The family of Kryst issued a statement saying, “Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined. Most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague — we know her impact will live on.” Condolences to the family of Cheslie Kryst.
