Miss USA 2019 Dead at 30 from Suicide, Reportedly Jumped from NYC Apartment

According to reports, Miss USA 2019—Cheslie Kryst reportedly jumped to her death. Ahead of jumping, Kryst posted to Instagram and said, “May this day bring you rest and peace.”

Reports noted the NYPD responded to a 911 call around 7:13 am to Kryst’s midtown apartment. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene, and police believed she jumped from higher up in the building to her death.

Kryst was a 30-year-old lawyer who was also the former Miss North Carolina. She ended up winning the 2019 Miss USA pageant and also went on to work as a reporter for ExtraTV. Kryst left a note saying she was leaving all of her belongings to her mother, who was a former pageant competitor as well. The family of Kryst issued a statement saying, “Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed and she shined. Most importantly, as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague — we know her impact will live on.” Condolences to the family of Cheslie Kryst.
