Man Charged in Overdose Death of 12-Yr-Old Nephew After Making Him Clean Up Drug Lab

According to reports, a New Jersey man was arrested in connection to his 12-year-old nephew’s fentanyl overdose.

Authorities say the boy was found unresponsive on his school bus and was immediately rushed to the hospital in Washington Township and then to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia before dying eight days later. The medical examiner determined the boy’s cause of death was fentanyl intoxication.

Investigators soon learned that the home the boy lived was used by his uncle as a drug lab to manufacture synthetic opioids. They also gathered that the uncle, Troy Nokes, 35, made the boy clean up his drug lab days before the boy’s overdose.

Nokes was taken into custody soon after and faces several charges including aggravated manslaughter, endangering the welfare of a child, strict liability for a drug-induced death, maintaining a drug production facility, and employing a juvenile in a drug distribution scheme.
