Knoxville School Shooting Reportedly Leaves 1 Student Dead, 1 Officer Injured

Reports surfaced noting that a school in Knoxville, Tennessee went into lockdown after a shooting occurred. The incident reportedly went down at 3:15 PM in the Austin-East Magnet High School and resulted in one person dead while another person was injured due to the shooting.

Police responded to a call noting that a student at the school was armed and barricaded inside one of the school’s bathrooms. The cops ordered the student to come out, but “he refused to comply.” When the cops went to enter the bathroom, the student reportedly started firing, leaving one officer injured. As a result, police returned shots, killing the student.

The officer who was shot during the incident is reportedly recovering and “will be okay.” Tennessee Bureau of Investigations Director David Rausch spoke on the incident, clarifying that this is an “officer-involved shooting at a school” and shouldn’t be looked at as a school shooting.
