Idaho Teacher Disarms 6th Grade Female Student After 3 People Shot

A sixth grade girl opened fire at Rigby Middle School in Rigby, Idaho, about 95 miles southwest of Yellowstone National Park on Thursday (May 6). Three people were shot- a custodian and two students, but are expected to survive. One of the students had wounds in two limbs and might have been shot twice.

The female shooter took a handgun out of her backpack and began shooting in the hallway, and was disarmed by a female teacher, who held the shooter until law enforcement arrived and took her into custody. Jefferson County Prosecutor Mark Taylor said criminal charges wouldn’t be filed until the investigation is complete but that it could include three counts of attempted murder.

More details to come.
