Upon the shocking discovery, the feds confiscated approximately 1,700 pounds of cocaine, 164 pounds of meth, and 3.5 pounds of heroin from the warehouse at the tunnel’s where an exit point near San Diego. The narcotics are said to have a street value of about $25 million.
While the recent revelation has yielded some very helpful facts in Home Land Security’s battle against drug trafficking, it remains unknown just how long this underground narcotics tunnel was in operation. Other law enforcement entities that took place in the drug raid included the San Diego Sheriff’s Department and the United States Border Patrol.
The collaborative effort resulted in the arrests of Mario Jaramillo (55), Adrian Enriquez (31), Manuel Perez (49), Juan Cruz (48), Vanessa Ramirez (31), and Luz de Luna Olmos (43). All suspects have been indicted on charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin in the U.S.
