Biden Says He Plans to Run for Re-Election in 2024

>While he hasn’t been in office for a full year yet, President Joe Biden is already eyeing a 2024 reelection run.

During his first formal press conference since assuming the White House, the 78-year-old said he plans to run for reelection. Biden is already the oldest president in the country’s history but said age isn’t going to be a deterrent.

“Have you decided whether you are going to run for reelection in 2024?” CBS News’ Nancy Cordes asked Biden. “You haven’t set up a reelection campaign yet, as your predecessor had done at this time.”

“My answer is yes. My plan is to run for reelection. That’s my expectation. … I’ve never been able to plan four and a half, three and a half years ahead for certain,” Biden replied.

Many believed Biden was keeping the seat warm for VP Kamala Harris but he noted that he expects her to be his running mate in 2024. “She’s doing a great job. She’s a great partner.”
