99-Yr-Old Grandma From Mexico Gets Her Dying Wish: A Giant D**k on Her Grave

Whether it’s through a celebration, mourning, or flat-out denial, everyone internalizes the concept of death in their own way. A 99-year-old Grandma from Mexico named Catarina Orduña Pérez (also known as Doña Cata) recently made her exit from life as extravagant as can be when she had her family members honor her dying wish to put a replica of a giant penis on top of her tomb. This ask probably caused a bit of dissension within her family and several arguments, as many families around the world would have undoubtedly refused to honor such a shocking request, especially after the requester was no longer alive to enforce it. But nevertheless, several of Pérez’s descendants, such as her grandson, Álvaro Mota Limón, were there to ensure that a large statue about five-and-a-half feet tall, with a scrotum that weighed nearly 600 pounds, was built and placed exactly where she wanted it.

“She was always very avant-garde, very forward thinking about things,” Limón said. “She always said, in the Mexican sense, that we were vergas (which means ‘cocks’ in English).”

According to reports, the project required the services of 12 sculptors over the course of about one month. But initially, the lead engineer thought the entire ordeal was a practical joke that would never actually see the light of day.

“At first, I thought it was a joke because it’s not very common to see these kinds of sculptures or monuments and even less so in the memory of someone who’s deceased,” said Isidro Lavoignet.

Now that Catarina Orduña Pérez has passed away and the statue stands tall above her grave, her family has taken a united front in maintaining the presence of the unorthodox tomb, much to the dismay of the conservative locals who are none too pleased with the unusual display.
